Keep in touch online. What to do.

Everyone starts somewhere. Start with one small step.

Use this topic if you or someone you support wants to learn:
  • How email works, and how to create and use a Gmail account.
  • How to use WhatsApp for messages, calls, and group chats.
  • How Facebook works, and how to connect with people safely.
  • What to do if you get stuck, or something looks suspicious.

Choose one box. You do not need to read the whole page.

If you are not sure where to start, that is okay.

Take your time. You are not behind.

  • This is a learnable skill.

  • You can practise safely with one trusted person first.

  • You do not need to share personal information to get started.
You can keep your profile simple and private.

Before you begin. 60 seconds

A few quick checks make everything easier.

  • Make sure your phone is charged, or plug it in.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi if you have it.
  • Keep a pen and paper nearby for usernames and passwords.

Important

  • If you want to share something with a person you trust, share a screenshot. Do not forward a live link.
  • Do not share screenshots that include one-time codes, PINs, or passwords.

Tip

If you are helping someone else, sit beside them and let them hold the phone. Let them tap the screen themselves. Talk them through it. It builds confidence.
